RESULTS: Schools’ Table Tennis Preliminaries, Day 2

PRESS RELEASE - 2014 Inter Secondary Schools Table Tennis competition continued Tuesday at two venues namely the Castries Table Tennis Centre and the International School Gym.

Bocage Secondary School secured their spot to the main event in December when they narrowly edged out C.A.R.E. (A) team 3-2. Alpha Mangal of the Bocage Secondary competed unbeaten as he lead his team confidently.

St. Mary’s College (B)Team defeated Leon Hess Comprehensive (B) Team 3-1 to secure their spot to the main stage. Jn Phillip Murray from St. Mary’s played with a purpose as he dominated his opponents winning all of his matches in straight sets to become the outstanding player of the match. Javan Renee from Leon Hess competed well as he pulled off a victory against the Samarians.

Last years runners up International School (A) team had a very tough encounter against the Bonneterre Prep High School (B) team. Although Sunil Chitole from the International School competed unbeaten the Ribot brothers from Bonneterre Prep kept equalizing every win the International School got. With the match tied at 2 games a piece the deciding game was the doubles event in which Sunil and Nick Elzidi fought the way to victory to secure their spot in the main event. Bonneterre Prep (A) team also secured their spot to the main event in December.

After two days of competition six teams have qualified so far: International School (A), Bocage Secondary, Bonneterre Prep (A), Castries Comprehensive (B) ,St. Mary’s College(B) and (D) Teams.
