The Commercial Basketball League will crown a champion this weekend with the semi-finals on Friday, followed by the championship game on Saturday at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.
Four teams have booked their place in the semi-finals set for Friday — Royal St. Lucia Police Force, Scotia Bank, St. Lucia Fire Service and Renwick and Company.
On Wednesday, in the last qualification round games played, Renwick made it through as the second seed in Group A to the semi-finals with a win over ECFH 52 – 45.
Greg Mathurin led the way for Renwick with a double-double of 17pts, 16rebs and six assists. Steve Henry added 16pts and five rebs to lead the team to the semi-finals where they will now play the Royal St. Lucia Police Force.
Kurt Hyacinth was the lone player with double figures for ECFH with 18pts and five rebs which proved too little for them against Renwick.
Sandals also got their second win of the tournament in game two of the evening over Insurance All Stars 64 – 46. Both teams played simply for pride as their fate with qualification had already been decided before their game, with Insurance All Stars in particular trying to win their first game in Commercial League Basketball.
They went down with another defeat and finish this year’s tournament 0 – 4. Miguel Chicot had 12pts and seven rebs, and Casim James added 12pts, six rebs for Sandals. Ian Lesmond led the way for Insurance All Stars with 16pts and 11rebs.
